News Research
Channel 4 news presenters are generally dressed formally and smart, women would conventionally wear dresses, skirts or smart trousers and as for the men they would wear suites. I feel the presenters dress formally so that their clothes can compromise with the way that they communicate to their audience, this is so as presenters they can be taken seriously by the viewers.
This is an image of the E4 presenters. It is clear to see how differently dressed they are compared to Channel 4's presenters.
However E4's target audience starts from the age of 15, which means majority of the people watching their show are teenagers and young adults. So due to this it is only right that the teenagers watching have presenters that are less formal and more in trend say they can attract the audience that they are targeting.
Channel 4 BBC
Channel 4's theme color is purple
In the colour wheel purple is the darkest type of red possible. Even though red is a warm colour which symbolizes happiness and love, it bring another side of red, which is the more serious. In funerals, people go for colours like purple and black. The reason to way Channel 4 chose purple as a theme colour was so the audience would take the information that's being given seriously.
Also the studio itself is very modern and mature, I feel that they have chosen a studio like this so that it can link with their audience's age with them being mature.
The Lay out of Channel 4's studio looks very homely and inviting which makes their audience feel relaxed and can potentially make them feel conformable whereas compared to BBC's there's is very office looking not somewhere that potentially looks inviting, which could then affect their viewers because presentation is a huge thing, physiologically if they have a studio that is very boring and dull it could come across that the programme itself will also rise up to the presentation.
BBC's studio is shaped in a globe and also so is their logo, I feel that they used a globe because it suggest that they are delivering worldwide news. Which shows that the BBC offer a diverse number of different current affairs. However the BBC and Channel 4 both target around the same age group as each other whereas Newsround for example their studio is set out completely the opposite to the BBC and Channel 4.
Newsround have deliberately chosen to set out their studio in this way, because of the age of their target audience. They have used bright colours to draw in the viewers and also because they are young it will keep them entertained and attracted to the screen as well as the information being told.
The language that the presenters use differs depending on their target audience.
Channel 4 tend to speak formal and use a high level of vocabulary because they know that the audience they are aiming towards should be at that level of being able to understand.
Whereas E4 are expected to speak formal but not as formal as Channel 4 would, they still do have to keep it professional in the way they speak but they can loosen up slightly when presenting the their audience.
Newsround on the other hand communicate with less complex words and do not speak as fast and long as other News programs that are targeting an older audience.
Most information on the Israel and Palestine conflict that i had found out was in most news programs and news articles they focused mostly on the statistics of how many Palestinians have been injured not many broadcasts had gone into detail of Israel's deaths and their side of the conflict. In my news program i will do the complete opposite, because I have stated it will be 100% neutral not once will we be biased. Everything we broadcast will be of both sides of the argument not just majorly focusing on one particular side this is so we allow our audience to make a balanced opinion. In Wikipedia I found some information about the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers, I will add this piece of information in my news programme because it highly links with my target audience and as for what we as a company try to do is to not only inform teenagers of current affairs but is to also educate them. So therefore I will add this so that my audience can see how privileged they are to be living in a peaceful and safe environment compared to other boys and girls their age. I Feel that by using statistics of people the same age as them it will mean something more to them because they have something in common and can relate to.
The name of my News program is called Direct News I first chose to use this as my title because i felt that it immediately states in the title what we do as a company. The use of the word 'direct' makes it clear that the news we are delivering is straight to the point and directly aimed at the viewers.
The production company of my program is called 'Today's Youth' this links highly with my target audience due to them being the ages of between 15-18 and they are classified as the youth and will be the future of tomorrow. Todays Youth has worked with shows from E4 such as Youngers, we chose to work with them because they attract the same target audience as my news program and when we worked with them it was when our program was not as mainstream and popular as it is now so to work with a program that we knew had viewers and was targeting the same audience that we wanted to it felt like a good idea to try and get our company noticed by another company that target the same audience we was aiming to target.
I feel that my news programme is unique because there is no news programme that I feel broadcasts positive aspects and let young people voice their opinion freely without being judged or stopped. I also feel that there is not a news program that specifically targets young people ages 15-18 the only news programme that targets young children is newsround and that only ranges from the ages of 8-13year olds which means there is a huge place in the market for a teenage targeted news program.
My target audience is young people aged from 15-18, in my news program I will ensure it will appeal to my audience with what I offer on the programme. I will do this by broadcasting things that teenagers will be attracted to, such as new music video's, film trailers and the latest celebrity gossip. We also will have a twitter and Facebook page so that are viewers can access the latest stories on their phones if they are not close to a TV to watch the usual broadcasting.

I have chosen to use these particular types of social media's because it is what my target audience are most likely to use to communicate to their friends. Having this knowledge will make it easier for me to get the information I want to broadcast to the audience I am aiming towards, faster than doing it manually. This will also give the local community access to my programme in a more accessible and direct way.
We do understand that there is a lot of different nationalities / religions that will watch this programme, which we feel is a good thing because we would love to keep it as diverse as possible, we do not aim only towards one social group. However we do ac
I feel that my main competition would be Newsround because they are the only news programme that targets young people as a whole, however I feel that my news programme will be different to Newsround because the target age is older, and therefore my approach will be more sophisticated.
Due to the experience of the presenters I have chosen for my news programme the cost that I would have to pay them would be around £1,500 per week. I had chosen more known and famous presenters because it can potentially get my views up and because they are presenters that are in the teenage eye they will be familiar with them which already set the programme on a positive.
The way the show majority of the time will be structured is show a preview of what will be coming up on the news, so that if something someone wants to see is shown at the end of the show it strives them watch on more. I will then go on and give the latest celebrity gossip and new music video's. Towards the end of the programme we will then go onto more serious topics such as Israel and Palestine conflict. For the people that do not fully understand the conflict we will briefly cover a background story of what actually happened so that the story being told is fully understood by the audience.
The local community will be involved in the programme because firstly the news will be a community based. In order for this to work successfully the community will need to be aware and supportive of this which will link into the social media's. I will be speaking and interviewing people in the community for their opinions or experiences of current affairs in the local community.
